Anybody ever meet someone named Stana?  Not me.  I'm surprised it's not more popular.  It's a cool name.  If you scramble the letters, it spells Santa.  Smile  Santa is awesome.

But I agree, it's a very cool name. Although, I have a unique name, and I don't particulary like it, so I wonder how she felt growing up with a non "normal" name.

Meaning: Its source is stan slav, a Slavic name meaning "Glorious government."

Languages: This girl's name is used in Serbian.

Nickname For: Stanislava

While Stana was born in Canada, I think her parents were not, they came to Canada from  the Dalmatian coast in former Yugoslavia. I think Stana is quite popular name there.

I have a confession to make.  The first couple of times I heard the promos for Castle, before the series started, I heard "Starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic" and I thought – "What the heck?  What kinds of names are those?"  Just had never heard of either the first or last name for Stana and had never heard of a last name of Fillion.  I admit I wasn't familiar with either of their careers, so they were completely new to me.  They are not typical names for actors – but it seems more and more these days celebs are keeping their own names instead of making them "ordinary" like they did in the past.  Once I watched the show, I was hooked and now I couldn't care less what their names are – they're among my favorite actors and it's interesting to hear where Stana's name, in particular, came from.

LOL To the person who mentioned "Satan" having the same letters, she stated in an interview (I think it was Jimmy Kimmel??) that one time she was going to the studio lot and gave her name and the badge they gave her had her name as "Satan Katic". Whoops!

i have a name that is never spelled correctly so it's become second nature to just immediately spell it out after saying it.  if she feels anywhere as annoyed as i do with that, i feel for her.  gosh, and to have a name that is often mistaken for santa and satan…that's terrible.  it really is a beautiful name, such a shame.

My name isn't all that different but you rarely hear it for a female. I was getting on a ski lift the other day and this guy was looking at my season pass and goes, "How do you say your name?" Trust me, you say it the way it looks. I get comments like that a lot. I also get, "So… is that short for something?" I feel for Stana. Correcting people or having to reply every time someone says, "So… that is unqiue. Where did that come from?" gets old so quickly.
