I think it has sth to do with the fact that we have another 31st Oct Monday this year and unfortunately, no 25th Dec Monday. it just doesn't feel right you know, having a xmas eppy that doesn't fall into either 24th or 25th of Dec. may be they can do some thing like preparing for the holiday stuff. still fun.
Yeah, but what if there's no Monday Dec.25th on Castle? Not even in season 5 or 6 or 7…? They can't postpone a Christmas episode just because it will not air on Christmas day.
I remember Andrew saying, maybe a year ago, or so, that he wanted to have one different holiday themed episode per season. I find that weird that they're gonna do another Halloween episode… Not that I'm against another Halloween episode. The first one was great, and I bet the second one would be great too. But if it means that there shouldn't be a Christmas episode in season 4, I just think it's sad.
Everything you said. If they didn't want to do a Christmas ep because not everyone is Christian (which is the dumbest excuse) they could do a thanksgiving episode. It's more the spirit of the holiday than the actual holiday. Shoot, some of my favorite holiday episodes were The OCs "Chrismakkah" episodes. I'm not from a Jewish/Christian family, but the point of the episodes was that they were all one big family. But I guess Christmas is such a huge holiday in my house and I like seeing other adaptations from shows. Plus they could have a really funny case connected to the case. Oh my… I just had this hilarious picture of Ryan wearing a holiday tie that sings. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Please understand: it's not a possibility. There are long term contracts with the regulars, usually 6-7 years long and these are one-way streets: the channel can cancel the show anytime or can change somebody, but an actor or a showrunner can not say that "I'm bored, I quit".
Most showrunners have several projects in preparation, because it is too late to start thinking on something new after a show is cancelled. That's the real world, each and every show has an end, they want to be prepared – it has nothing to do with the immediate fate of the show.
Stana had a very busy first six months. She hadn't even finished the last episode of Castle when she went to a set of The Big Sur on her days off, then hopped the plane to Zlin, then she was cornered a bit with the For Lovers Only – when it was finished, she went private. Yes, last year she tweeted more on her holiday. And? It was her private time, she didn't work, there were no new project, that's all. She is not obliged to fill our curiosity. Indeed she likes to do other projects beside Castle, because she is thrilled with the new challenges but until her original contract lasts those are possible only if they fit into Castle's schedule, those are not either-or choices.
Her SDCC presence (or absence) was obviously the part of the "Beckett was shot fatally" ruse (on twitter, the scene what was shown at the panel) – me personally can't really see the logic in this after AM's interviews in May, but it's their PR, not mine.
Stana actually explained it on Facebook that she had a personal commitment on Sunday (my guess is a family event), so she wasn't able to attend Castle panel. I'm not able to understand why people are making such a big deal of her absence at the panel, after all she has the full right to PRIVATE LIFE! Actors are cancelling conventions appearances all the time for various reasons, even last minute, it's completely normal thing.

As a matter of fact, they have 7 years contract with the option for the studio (ABC) to renegotiate it after 5 years. That's the info from somebody at ABC's Castle board who used to work for ABC/Disney.
That's good news!
But I would be curious to know if this is just for Nathan and Stana, or for everyone, as this is not what is normally done.

Probably just for Nathan and Stana, since they're the leads. It's logical considering what happened to Captain Montgomery…

Oh so true. Besides they all have been working insane long hours for weeks in a row so they all prolly have to cramp in as much as they can in their available time.

Really? This is what you consider friendly banter, to call someone elses considerations or possibilities, "dumb"?
I realize the point of having holiday episodes, especially Christmas is about "the spirit" of the holiday and not to be taken literally. But I feel some things might be or even should be, taken into consideration, this day and age….and I don't mean to be "politically correct" or to cause people to feel as if they are walking on egg shells with what they say and do, I just simply think it is possible some studios are taking all things into consideration with respect to what they put out there for entertainment…..that's all.
There was nothing 'personal' in my speculation or consideration.
If I misinterpreted your comment, my apologies, but I don't think it was necessary or appropriate.

I also understand what you are saying, but I can sit and list off primetime and daytime (ABC) shows that have Christmas/holiday centered episodes. Modern Family just had one where Phil thought the kids were lying about something so he drug the tree out of the living room. Grey's always does a holiday episode. General Hospital ALWAYS does a Christmas episode- including legacy family traditions which include always burning dinner and ordering Pizza. I think people need to get over themselves about the holiday PC stuff. It bothers about probably 1% of the population. The argument could be turned right back around with Halloween. There are many people out there that don't celebrate Halloween because they think it is related to the Devil, yet shows all around still have Halloween episodes. Entertainment should cater to the middle majority. Not the few who will have their feelings hurt.
*Done with rant. It's off topic and can only lead to bigger arguments*

OfflineThe original comment was, why they hadn't done a Christman ep and my response was simply speculation as to why.
That's all.
Yes, I realize other shows have, and will continue to have Christmans episodes., and I have absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. I also realize my speculation might be way off, but to go to the extent of calling is "dumb" was my issue.
Maybe I am being too sensitive or reading too much into your response, but regardless, its uncessary.
I am not upset, or ranting, only addressing a comment I thought was inappropriate.

At the Nerd HQ interview with Nathan someone asked about Game of Thrones since Nathan is a HUGE fan if he would like to be in the show. Since Game is in 1st season now and there are 5 books so he said Season 5. He did a kind of count down for Castle compared to Thrones. Castle S3, Thrones S2 — Castle 4, thrones 3 – Castle 5, Thrones 4 – Castle done, thrones 5. Here is the interview Maybe I miss understood his logic but ????? So who knows if he was just joking around or as we know the Studios/ABC can dump a show at anytime. I hope Castle runs for a long time but the stories need to be good with C&B together in S4 and show the conflict that can happen as a couple for S5 and on.

OfflineHis comment comes in a little after the 36min mark, just in case anyone else watches this.
I think Nathan's comment is based on his assumption that Castle will only last as long as his current contract is for, which may or may not be the case. If the show continues to do well, I can't imagine they would not extend the contracts, assuming of course, they were in agreement to continue.
Also, unless his contract/schedule - forbids/prohibits him from doing other projects, its possible he could do a bit part that wouldn't require him taking any leave from Castle. But who knows…
I think he was just talking off the top of his head and really isn't in a position to confirm one way or the other.

Specifically in case of the GoT it would be almost impossible as they are filming almost all year long outside the USA and Castle's schedule is quite tight. I'm not saying it could not be done during Castle (if you want something really badly you may find a way) but I don't think he is that much into it. His countdown is an interesting thing though. I wouldn't draw big conclusions from it, I sign it to his "the first time a show survives with me" attitude. He enjoys Castle's character pretty much, I doubt he would wait the end of the contract to be free – except there is some more geekish opportunity on the horizon

Offlinewell, xmas is kind of universal in my opinion. here in my country, many people are not christian, yet xmas is still celebrated. it's like lunar new year you know. needn't to be an asian to celebrate the holiday, or to be kids to receive lucky money. holiday is what it is. I still go with the opinion that they air an episode on the exact same day. that's why we have 2 halloween eppys and 1 valentine eppy. kind of sad but I don't think there will be an xmas eppy next season, just one with new year's eve (Mon 31st Dec 2012). that should do right?
'bout Nathan. worry not. he is a master of jokes and pranks, which makes him a really charming man[Image Can Not Be Found]. just an opinion of a fan who loves to be in his fav show. I mean who doesn't?
and no. Stana won't leave the show. Ashton Kutcher and Nathan can never do the trick[Image Can Not Be Found]

I have watched the first season of GoT and absolutely love it! Don't know where it is filmed, but regardless, if Nathan or any actor wants to do a bit project elsewhere, and unless, current commitments/contract forbid it, they will. Just like Stana being in Progue right now. Don't know how many days she will be there, but they are in the middle of filming Castle and she takes time out to go out of the country. She was in Manhattan yesterday promoting FLO at Tribeca Film Festival. I would assume her travel has to do with promoting FLO and/or possibly doing a bit part in one.
BTW, great article on FLO: http://www.tribecafilm.com/tri…..t-All.html
