Rules & User Agreement
Note: While we primarily use the term “Forum” throughout this document these rules also apply to the chat room and other areas of CastleTV.net
The forum on CastleTV.net is a private forum, not a democracy and what we – the administrators – say goes. While we invite all members to become fully involved and we do take your opinions and concerns into consideration when decisions must be made but at the end of the day you must abide by our rules. We always endeavour to treat everyone fairly but if you break the rules action will be taken.
If you have any problems or questions about these rules or anything going on on the forums please feel free to contact the Administrator. However, we cannot be held responsible for posts within this forum . We’ll do the best we can to see that the rules aren’t broken but please remember that our real world responsibilities keep us busy and we may not be able to follow up on issues as quickly as you’d like .
If a post is deleted or edited our forum moderators are under no obligation to seek you out and tell you about it. Our moderators all have day jobs. Moderating means having to read every post in the forums which is time consuming in itself and adding to their workload by having them explain every single action they take is an unreasonable burden on their time. Nobody is paying them to moderate our forums and at times it can be a difficult and stressful job. If you do have a question about why a post was removed please contact the moderators or administrator privately.
If you make a serious breach of the rules you will receive a warning. If you continue to break the rules we will place you on moderation and if you continue further to create trouble we reserve the right to ban you completely. Efforts to circumvent the ban (eg registering with a different name) may result in you being banned from the entire website.
Our number 1 rule is simply be respectful. This includes treating other members, cast & crew of Castle, and anyone else living or dead with respect.
Registration & Usernames
All new registrations require confirmation to ensure you are a real person and not a spambot. You may not register a username that contains offensive words or would lead someone to believe you are a member of the Castle cast or crew or any other public figure. You are not allowed to register multiple usernames or pose as multiple personalities. If you feel you need to change your username for a legitimate reason contact the Administrator.
General Posting Rules
Please try to speak properly using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation and do not use all caps. CastleTV.net has a large number of international members and we understand that there are language barriers for some. This is ok but if English is your native language you will be expected to speak properly. Unless you’re 12 (in which case you should not be participating on this site in the first place) there is no excuse for not communicating in a proper fashion. This may seem petty but proper punctuation and grammar makes it easier for people to read what you are writing. Thanks.
No Personal Attacks.
This means against any administrator, moderator, member, cast or crew, or any other person. It is possible to have healthy discussion, and even mild debate, without it getting ‘personal’.
Attacking anyone in a personal way will result in a warning from an administrator or moderator. Continued behaviour of this nature may result in a member being moderated or banned. Harassment or bad behaviour towards a member via the private message system will also not be tolerated.
No gossip, especially involving the cast, crew or any of their friends or family members will be tolerated under any circumstances.
No linking or discussion on “Blind Items” these are designed purely to stir up gossip so we will not allow them here.
We believe strongly that the private lives of the cast and crew should remain just that, private. Anything posted that is considered by an administrator or moderator to be delving into this area will be removed. It doesn’t matter if it’s already posted elsewhere online. It will not be permitted here.
No Unauthorised Photographs or Video
We will not allow photographs or video of cast, crew or filming taken without the knowledge of those involved to be posted here.
It is a breach of privacy (there’s a reason the paparazzi have such a bad reputation) and also shows disrespect to the creators of Castle when individuals post and share images that give away details for episodes that have not yet aired. If you’re not sure if something is ok to post ask an administrator or moderator first.
No Trolling or Spamming
Do not post messages with the aim of making people angry or stirring up trouble.
Do not post the same message repeatedly.Do not send out mass private messages to forum members.
Do not self-promote by linking to sites or information from which you will personally gain unless you have cleared it with an administrator or moderator first.
It is not appropriate to post smut here please try to keep it PG13 and remember that people from ABC and from Castle have been known to lurk on these forums at times. Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want them to see. Absolutely no posting images of a sexual nature, real or manipulated.
Certain areas of the forum are a free for all as far as spoilers go (primarily the Episode Discussion section) and it is not necessary to post spoiler warnings or use spoiler tags in these areas however if you are posting anything of a spoilery nature outside of these areas you MUST use the spoiler tags, if you’re not sure how, ask someone.
No Posting images, videos or links to Pirated Material
This includes links to sites that offer illegal download of episodes. If it’s not on Hulu/ABC Viewer/Amazon/iTunes or an official international network site (eg Canada’s CTV or Australian’s Seven) then it’s not legal. If in doubt please ask an administrator or moderator first. We know that this is particularly frustrated for international viewers who want to watch episodes or commentaries on the ABC site etc but the simple fact is it’s illegal so we cannot permit it here. The same applies to tools used to circumvent international blocks used by various websites.
No use of foul language or inappropriate behaviour
Please remember that we have people of all ages and backgrounds visiting our site. Be respectful and refrain from obscenity, foul language, promotion of illegal activities or drug use.
